Artistic Musings for Fall 2018 Collection

image1 (1).jpeg

For me, Fashion is Art. What inspires me? Architects and artists such as Rem Koolhaas, Jean Dubuffet and Mark Rothko. Plus the combined use of materials, shapes and colors.

These genius artists are the muse of my Fall 2018 Collection. I created exclusive knit materials in France in various gauges from specially-dyed Italian yarns in jewel tones. I also sourced contrasting textures such as glossy raffia. This treasure trove of materials is the secret to my luxurious knits that serve as the canvas of my creations.

Just a tease of what’s ahead…envision intricately-woven geometric diamonds with a touch of lurex and bold, black and white diagonal stripes. The color palettes of these unexpected patterns feature rich hues of Cabernet, Cobalt Blue, Evergreen and Marigold. The Royal color families create statement pieces that define a woman with European style and artistic sensibility.

So much more is in-store and I hope you will join me for the unveiling of my newest collection made in France at the same factories selected by the Houses of Chanel and Hermes.

Come see our Fall 2018 line of knit luxuries in women’s fashion at our flagship boutique in the renowned King of Prussia retail destination. Spring Rises and Sets in Desert Hues

I am celebrating Spring 2018 with a Modern Desert color palette. As always, I hand select exclusive yarns from Italy and then create luxurious original materials, all from France, to create each season’s unique collection. My designs come to life thanks to the talented French craftsmen used by legendary fashion houses such as Chanel and Hermes.

My Modern Desert colors feature subtle shades of the Sahara and Moroccan Dunes offset by a touch of metallic. Desert Rose, Soft Gold and Warm Cocoa express their beauty through hand-knit details that bring these shades to life.

Malerie Dress, Spring 2018

If looking to shine for an evening out, the Malerie dress is the perfect pick. Its metallic wave texture combined with feminine V-neck ruffles and bodycon fit is a couture design with French flair created specifically for a spring soiree.

The soft sands of the desert are also reminiscent of the textures you will feel in my fabrics and knits this season. The Mychelle skirt embodies the warm, sueded tactile beauty of sand sifting through your fingers. This is one of many unique qualities of knitwear as the various yarns allow me to customize texture and patterns to create a feeling that embodies what inspires me as a design a new collection.

Our Cadence fitted jacket is another wardrobe essential this Spring – ideal for any event, travel or special occasion when an elegant blazer makes a statement. Its shimmering gold textured stripe, paired with the feminine Mychelle high waist pleated skirt shares a metallic edge hem that is another signature detail of my hand-designed knitwear for this season.

4 of Paula’s Favorite Looks From Spring/Summer 2017

This spring/summer I wanted to put together a collection that had intricate details while retaining simplicity.  The goal was to emphasize the core of what a knit really is by creating pieces to mix and match for any occasion. With summer now here, this is a good time to showcase some essentials for your wardrobe and how they can be paired together.

  1. Aubrey Gown
2016.20.11_PAULAHIAN_SS17_AUBREY_028

The abstract structure of this dress turned out to be completely flawless. When I envisioned this piece I was inspired by geometric shapes and endless lines to create a design that is everlasting. With the abstract print and the color, this is a piece that will not go unnoticed while you’re wearing it.

PH Blog Post- Cheyenne Dress

Intended to be worn as a classic fit and flare, this dress ultimately became dual function. While shooting this piece at the photoshoot, a spontaneous decision was made to photograph the dress with the collar up. Instantly it became a brand new look and blossoming one dress into the idea of two.

Subtle but designed with refined details, the cap sleeve structure is the perfect way to TOP it off. This Pinafore dress offers a black top and base but the skirt comes in a choice of several vibrant colors which you can see in other pieces of my Spring/Summer collection. Whether you’re on the way to work or ready for a night out on the town, this two toned polka dot “beaute” will become your next favorite.

4. Tracy Jacket/Georgine Skirt

2016.20.11_PAULAHIAN_SS17_TRACY_025

Smooth lines transform this combo into the perfected geometric dream. Made with lightweight yarns, the framework makes the garment easy-to-breathe. Created as “sport couture” I wanted to keep these pieces easy to mix and match with other pieces of the collection. The scallop build of the skirt wears as a wrap, giving an asymmetrical look.

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy wearing these four looks and the rest of the collection as much as I enjoyed designing it.

xoxo,

Paula

With summer finally here, you are probably spending more time with friends and family. Whether your weekend takes you to the beach, city, or weekend retreat, Paula Hian Designs can make your planning easier.

Let’s say you are going to the beach. Besides the essentials: bathing suit, coverup, underwear, cosmetics, etc., think about what you will be doing. During the day, you might want to dress casually to meet the gang for lunch. May we suggest for a fun, flirty look – the Rochelle dress, or Holly top and Mirla skirt.

You can even choose the color combinations – rich coral, sky blue, chartreuse yellow, jade green, and navy blue.* Black and white are also available for a sophisticated look.

Have a more formal day gathering to attend? You can’t go wrong with the Nancy, or Henrietta dresses.

Want a little more coverage? Go with the Kari or Fayette dress.

Paula Hian designs has something for everyone, no matter what your shape, size, or attitude!

Summer is the time to unwind, relax. Let yourself breath. Read a book, take a walk, build a sand castle… Anything goes… Just remember to be you, keep work at the office and let the kids be occupied by the waves. This is your time!

Going out to dinner or to a party? You can’t go wrong with the Paige or Karla dress.

A more formal occasion? Without question, the magnificent Aubrey gown in sky blue/coral or black and white is the answer.

Paula Hian designs also has plenty of jackets and sweaters to keep you warm if you find yourself in a cooler climate, or just want coverage – think Stephanie cardigan, Evonne bolero or Tracy jacket. For sophistication and glamour, throw on the Evelyn jacket.

Wherever you go, just have fun- even if your weekend is a staycation. Contemporary and classic at the same time, you will always feel confident in your Paula Hian pieces…. They will stay in your wardrobe for a very long time. Oh, and we can’t resist a shout out to the glorious peplum Gallia top. Good for just about anything…enjoy! (PAULAHIAN.COM).
